An honest word: Rhino sightings in Chitwan are frequent and close. Tigers are shy and thickly forested here — a real chance, more so Feb–Apr, but never guaranteed.
Our signature short safari, run entirely on ground we control. Four unhurried days built around the one-horned rhino — which you’ll very likely meet up close — with the forest’s shyer residents as the patient reward for time and quiet.
Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrival & first light on the river
Transfer to Chitwan and settle in. As the heat softens, a dugout canoe drifts down the Rapti for gharial, kingfishers and the first waders, followed by a walk along the forest edge and a naturalist’s briefing over dinner.
Day 2 — Into the core
A full-day jeep safari deep into the park with a packed lunch. Grasslands and riverbanks are prime rhino country; your naturalist reads pugmarks, scrapes and alarm calls for signs of tiger and sloth bear.
Day 3 — On foot & on water
A guided jungle walk at dawn — the forest’s most intimate hours — with an armed park guard and your naturalist. Afternoon at leisure or a second canoe stretch and birding session.
Day 4 — Departure
A final early birding walk before onward travel, or extend into a wider Terai circuit.
